"Macon" a Difference
The Georgia Academy for the Blind (GAB) provides statewide leadership, campus programming, and outreach services for children and young adults who are experiencing blindness and visual impairments as well as those with multi-disabilities. The campus program offers a safe and stimulating learning environment. Outreach services are provided through on campus evaluations including psycho-educational, low vision, and assistive technology. Outreach services provide follow-up to help students and teachers with the use of low vision and assistive technology devices in the students’ customary environment. Training opportunities are provided for Georgia’s teachers for the visually impaired both on and off campus.
The GAB is home to other programs serving the entire state. The Department of Education State Consultant, the Georgia Instructional Materials Center for Blind and Visually Impaired, and the Georgia Pines services for blind and multiple disabled young children are based at the GAB.
