Health and Physical Education

At the Georgia Academy for the Blind, we have a full-sized accessible pool, a bowling alley, track, and a basketball/goalball court. Physical education for students with disabilities is a modified form of physical activity designed to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities. It's a special education service, ensuring that all students, regardless of their physical or cognitive abilities, have access to physical education and can participate in activities alongside their peers.
Ms. McDavid, along with paraprofessional Ms. Little, are dedicated to promoting lifelong healthy habits for all students. We are committed to designing and leading inclusive and engaging physical education and health programs to create an environment where every student feels motivated, supported, and empowered to reach their full potential.
We tailor activities that build physical skills while fostering teamwork, resilience, and self-confidence. Lessons are adapted to accommodate each of our students with disabilities, so that every learner can fully participate and thrive in a safe, respectful, and encouraging setting. Whether introducing fundamental motor skills or guiding learners through fitness training and wellness education, we hope to inspire a culture of movement, inclusion, and lifelong health in and out of the classroom.
