Smokey Powell Center

Dear Colleagues,

The Smokey Powell Center would like to share an update regarding Assistive/Access to Technology (AT) assessments and consultations.

Due to a high volume of referrals and our current assessment schedule being fully booked, the Smokey Powell Center must place a temporary hold on accepting new AT referrals at this time.

We understand the importance of timely AT support and appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to serve students across Georgia with fidelity and care. Updates will be shared as availability changes. Please keep in mind we can do Instructional Support Referrals if you just need some guidance to get you started on a district lead AT.

Thank you for your continued collaboration and support of students with visual impairments throughout the state.

The Georgia Department of Education, State Schools Division, is pleased to offer VI Outreach Services through the Smokey Powell Center. The center is housed on the Georgia Academy for the Blind campus and provides services to any student throughout the state of Georgia who is blind or visually impaired. Services are provided at no cost to the student.
