  • P-EBT Benefits

We have good news for AASD GAB  GSD families!

The Department of Human Services Division of Family and Children Services in collaboration with the Georgia State University, is issuing P-EBT benefits to families identified as eligible during the 2020-2021 school term. P-EBT is the Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer (P-EBT). This is a program authorized by the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA), which aids families with children who temporarily lost access to free or reduced-price school meals due to school closures, or the reduction of school hours, or attendance capacity, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This benefit will provide extra help to families who normally receive free school meals through participation in the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast programs. All families of the AASD GAB GSD students are eligible.

    How it works:

    • Families currently receiving benefits will have the amount preloaded on their existing Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card.
    • Families not currently receiving benefits but approved as part of the State Schools, will receive an EBT card mailed to the family within three (3) to four (4) weeks. The card will be sent via US Mail to the address AASD currently has on file.

All families from the Atlanta Area School for the Deaf will be issued a total of $982.08 which will be distributed to via EBT cards, over several months beginning in mid-December.

All families from the Georgia Academy for the Blind will be issued a total of $1,222.60 which will be distributed to via EBT cards, over several months beginning in mid-December.

All families from the Georgia School for the Deaf will be issued a total of $95.48 which will be distributed to via EBT cards, beginning in mid-December.

  • Safety Update

    Dear families:

As a result of seeking to be as secure as possible, effectively immediately, the access gates will remain locked throughout the day.  Gates 2, 3, and 5 will be opened from 7 am to 8:30 in the mornings and opened again from 2:30 to 3:30 in the afternoons.  Also, we have a few gate operators assigned to remotely open the gates.  You simply call them by pressing the Gate operator button shown in the picture.Once you are parked, remember to bring your license in order to receive a visitor’s badge.  To enter the Hendricks school building, you will ring the doorbell which is located on the right and left access door to the building.  You press that button and you will gain access to this building where you will sign in and receive a visitor’s badge.

We appreciate your help and patience in this matter.
