GAB Art students have exhibitions of their work on campus in conjunction with the Winter and Spring concerts, but they have made a name for themselves by showing their work in our local community and even the national and international stage.
Macon Little Theatre exhibited GAB hand-colored, screen prints about the people who inspire us, in 2019. They invited the entire school to view their dress rehearsal of "Miracle Worker" as a token of our thanks. The screen prints were made in a collaboration effort with Georgia College and spent the summer of 2019 in a gallery in Pittsburg. The show traveled to Ireland in 2020 where it hangs in Ireland!!!
Seven of our students got into the American Printing House for the Blind Insights Art Exhibition, in Kentucky Fall of 2019. Even more than that sold their work! One of our Elementary School students got 1st place in their age category and a middle school student got 2nd place. Her piece is hanging in the office of the President of Humanware. To celebrate her achievement, they are giving her an electronic magnifier. We took a field trip to Kentucky to the KY Museum of Arts and Craft, The KY Science Museum, and toured The American Printing House for the Blind, before the exhibition and Award's Banquet.
The Museum of Art and Science's Festival of Trees 2019-2020 gave our art students a chance to advocate for those with visual impairments in our community. Our classes made various ornaments with re-used Braille paper, and made tiny white canes from wooden dowels and beads to decorate a tree for the exhibition. We were able to tour the museum while we were there.
